National Society of Black Engineers - Indianapolis Alumni Extension
The local chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers. They are dedicated to increasing the number of Black engineers.
NSBE Jr A high school program for students interested in technology related careers. Call listed phone number on above web site for info.
NSBE-IAE also administers the 12th grade of the Minority Engineering Program of Indianapolis.
Minority Engineering Program (MEP) Middle and high school minority engineering program administered by Purdue University. Students spend several days on campus, usually during the summer, engaging in activities leading to increasing the number of minority engineering graduates.
Minority Engineering Advancement Program (MEAP) 6th thru 12th grade program administered by Indiana University Purdue University at Indianapolis (IUPUI) that exposes select minority students to the fields of engineering and technology.
Center for Leadership Development (CLD) Central Indiana program that fosters the development of minority youth as future business and community leaders.
College Goal Sunday Assistance to families in filling out the Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA) forms. All students planning on entering college should fill out these forms.

LOCAL SCHOLARSHIPS The assistance listed below are mostly based on income or for minority students. There are many more scholarships available.
21st Century Scholars Program Indiana college grant program for students from income qualifying households to attend Indiana colleges. (e.g. Family of 4, maximum annual income of approx. $40,873) Must apply in 6th, 7th or 8th grade. Also other great college aid financial links on this page. See above web site for details.

Inroads Local site of national program that develops and places talented minority college students in business and industry. This provides internships at competitive salaries for qualified students.
Indiana INTERNnet Sign up to locate internships for Indiana college students
Federal Express (FEDEX) and United Parcel Service (UPS) traditionally hire college students to unload trucks part time. They reimburse these employees part of their college expenses.

BDPA Organization of Blacks in the data processing industry. Good source for college students and professionals in Information Technology.
National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) A college student managed organization dedicated to increasing the number of Black engineers. They also have programs and scholarships for K-12 students interested in technological fields.
National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering (NACME) Organization whose mission is to increase the representation of African American, Latinos, And American Indians in the nation's engineering workforce. They compile data on minority representation in the engineering profession. They also have scholarship programs, literature and other valuable programs.
Junior Engineering Technical Society (JETS) Organization that provides activities, events, competitions, programs, and materials that involve students with engineers and demonstrate what engineers do.
Pre Engineering Times Free JETS online newsletter that spotlights the inside story of engineers for students. Lists engineering scholarships etc.
National Engineers Week - Dedicated to promoting the field of engineering. A lot of information for all age groups interested in the field of engineering.
Black Collegian Magazine Career and self development publication targeting African Americans.Black Excel Web site containing links to many scholarships. Most target African Americans.
