Wayne J. Hilson, Jr. is Director of Multicultural Academic Relations at IUPUI and works with both academic and student affairs units in fostering collaborations that help move campus toward reaching its various diversity objectives. He also works closely with campus affinity faculty and staff councils to this end. He has also served campus as Director of the Teacher’s Resource Center for Math and Science Education, Interim Program Leader of Student Research, Scholarship, and Diversity, as well as Interim Director of the IUPUI Multicultural Center.

Wayne began his career as an engineering professional at Johnson Controls, Inc. and later transitioned into higher education with stints as Assistant and Interim Director of Minority Engineering Programs at Purdue University. Wayne has a BS in Mechanical Engineering and MS in Education both from Purdue University and is completing his PhD in Higher Education at Indiana University. Wayne was first introduced to MEPI in 1997 as a co-facilitator for the 12th grade class.
