The past year has been a time of transformation for the Minority Engineering Program of Indianapolis. We resumed live Saturday sessions after having to pivot to virtual programing due to the pandemic, we enhanced the grade level curriculums in an effort to keep pace with the exponential advancements and evolution of technology, and we transitioned several long tenured leadership positions on the MEPI board and advisory board.
I am excited to be the new president of the board of directors and I am committed to building on the MEPI legacy to increase student knowledge interest and engagement in STEM studies and professions. I would like to acknowledge and thank William Scott, past board president and Steve Gillman, past board fundraising chair. Their tireless efforts have positioned the organization for future growth and success.
Past MEPI students that have graduated from college and are now STEM professionals are serving as members of the board, the advisory board, facilitators, banquet speakers, volunteers and even parents of current MEPI students. While this is evidence of our mission realized we must continue to work together and encourage our students to aspire to do their best, take advantage of opportunities and strive reach their full potential.
I am eager to engage and partner to advance MEPI to the next level focusing on providing leading edge STEM experiences, internships, scholarship access to corporate, business and alumni mentors. Together let’s build on the strong foundation and continue to make a lasting impact for MEPI in this program year and beyond.
